Very nice. Not sure if a shadow counts as a selfie, but in any case I took this on one of my rides. It was my Strava profile pic for a long time.

I am from Indiana, where basketball holds the same place as cycling does in Flanders. One of our most beloved pro athletes is Reggie Miller, who, although still a great supporter of the Pacers, is from LA. He is a cycling fan, and met with Wout for some hoops. Wild!

It’s terrible for cycling. Below is an exchange with my brother from midway through the race. Nothing fun about a sport this predictable.

It was the first place we went when we got to Normandy. We watched the lowering of the flag, very powerful.

I’ve been to Tyne Cot in Flanders, similar impact. It’s a lot to process, even decades after the fact and with no one there known to me.

Indeed, and while we have been away you were brought to mind. We also visited Normandy D-Day sites and came across a monument to Danish soldiers. Apparently got cut off from their main force and served with the American and others through intense fighting. Many lost their lives. Heroes.

In Paris on long-planned trip…

Never mind La tour Eiffel and all that; got to stand where it all happened on Stage 21. Rented a Lime bike and rode the new loop as well. Fun for an unabashed Stan!

Well shit. Campy has been a monster. Just hope it is not one of those spreading things.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t have done it, I’m saying the media would denounce Visma for doing it. And we know that because they have been doing it for years, beginning with Wout at TDF. I’ve been joking about it for a long time, including some parody that speaks directly to t
It.

Campy locked in like the Terminator, staring down his number at the head of the field.

Snaps from recent adventures. I enjoy riding with my local group, but solo rides through the countryside are my favorite.

La Vuelta, world’s most exciting derny race.

Jonas was there, but went wide on the last turn and lost his position.

Not sure how “deviation” is defined by UCI rules, but Van Poppel did it not once, but twice. Second time completely shut Brennan down. Here is before the first move, after the first move, and after the second move. WTF

Cycling coverage is just astonishingly bad. Among its conventions: dropping all on-screen info as the finale unfolds. Chase groups often catch groups like this in the closing meters, but we have no idea how close they are at this point. The information is available, they just choose to not show it

Fantastic coverage of the race finale. Not one shred of information on the screen.
