At the end of time, we should not be surprised by the company of immortals. This, too, shall pass. Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

An ocean can exist without any single drop of water, but without a single drop of water you will never make an ocean.

No one sitting in traffic ever wonders how much better everyone else's experience would be if they weren't there. However, the inverse is almost universally true. People don't recognize they are part of the problem even when they are sitting in the middle of it.

I'm tired, boss.

Something changed in how I see the stream of consciousness that is social media. The rage bait, psy-ops, trolls, bots, bad faith actors, etc. I keep asking myself, what is this post trying to get me to feel? What response do they want out of me? Agreement, outrage, silent gentle aquiescense?

A good pickle is the only food I would consider zesty.

The local pond in the evening echoes with toads, ducks, and the buzz of insects.

I would like an internet browser that filters out all AI generated posts, including bots. That is all, thank you.

There are people just now figuring it out.

I keep thinking about empathy. It's like a superpower that people are addicted to not using. It's wild. With empathy, you can diffuse conflict, build relationships and communities, and offer solace in hard times. But that means you'd have to feel not just your pain, but another's and people hate it.

Man, oh man, there are some toxic threads out there today. People are REALLY addicted to self-righteousness. They create a world within themselves where they are the hero and everyone else is the enemy. It's wild.

There is something tragically ironic about the first mid-air collision in over a decade happening at the REAGAN International Airport. It's almost as if air traffic control is an actual job with actual consequences.

The opposite of loose goosey is tightey kite-ey. That's a bird joke.

Texas has seceded from Mexico, the Oklahoma panhandle, and the US; all to preserve slavery. It was also the last place in the US to have slavery prior to June Juneteenth.

Movies should go to theaters AFTER they become a hit on streaming. For that matter, every theater should just have one screen dedicated to the top 100 films. People could vote for what they want to watch on the big screen.

I'm actually starting to enjoy BlueSky. Is this what the bird app was like in the before-fore times?

Fun History. George Washington led the attack, which started the 7 years war between France/Britain. That war directly led to the taxation policies that sparked the American Revolution and led to his subsequent presidency.

Our society simultaneously places responsibility of action on the individual, whilst simultaneously acting on all sides to undermine autonomy. Almost everything we consume is designed to be addictive. Food, drink, entertainment, news. All designed and built to undermine our ability to say no.

This is the neighborhood vagabond. Last week he followed me while i was walking my dog. Dashing from beneath car to behind a bush, he made me feel like I was in a studio Ghibli movie. Thanks, cat.

I've been trying to better curate my feed to have more pretty pictures and less rage bait. More connections, less central nodes.

Have you ever heard of Bob Altenmeyers book The Authoritarians? I keep wondering if it's am actually relevant text to the discussion of authoritarianism.

Question for anyone listening. What would it take for you to protest? To join a political meeting and show up week after week? What would it take for you to show up to town hall meetings to meet with your senator or representative? What would it take for you to get off the bench?

I often think humanity is a risen ape dreaming itself to be a fallen angel and finding itself lacking in the best aspects of either, while driven by the worst impulses of both.

I'm currently obsessed with how the British East India Company's (EIC) lobbying for corporate privileges directly led to the American Revolution. The Townshed acts were aimed at protecting and expanding EIC profits against Dutch smugglers. The Boston Tea Party was a protest against corporate rule.
