Having better technology has never made people better than mediocre, whether that’s in the 16th or the 21st century. Better technology just amplifies who we already are.

The original post is relevant because our president-elect just threatened to do it today, not centuries ago.

Spreading deadly germs and shooting people with guns does not require intelligence. Nor does being greedy and using said guns to force people to work for free. I’d argue that using “mediocre” to describe the above behavior is actually rather generous.

The fake outrage about Americans not getting jobs because of immigrants is all part of the strategy. They don’t actually care about anything other than more billions for themselves.

Makes sense if the goal is to 1) reduce the cost of labor that doesn’t need degrees by making it difficult for US citizens to get education and 2) reduce the cost of educated labor using H1B visas that don’t allow immigrants to leave their job if they want to stay here. They know what they’re doing.

No. If it was, he could have suggested spreading a rumor about those 2 people, not “software engineers”, who were understood not only by me but the vast majority of commenters on the post as Indian immigrants.

Third, because many of the software engineers on H1B visas are brown Indians. Fourth, because the first time this racist trope was used it was against another brown immigrant community (Haitians) who were then harassed, threatened and targeted by MAGA and other racists.

First, because that’s who the news is about: Indian (aka brown) immigrants on H1B visas. Second, by reading the comments on this post.
