My 2D Design class collab with Ceramics to make an installation. My students incised and carved into engobe-coated clay hexagon tiles. They still need to get fired and then glazed and fired then installed. Eventual plan is to install outside student art gallery.

Yesterday I took my painting class outside to talk landscapes. It was raining, but I had fun. Afterwards all but one went inside.

My daughter drew this self-portrait, and used lipstick on her lips to do the mouth. She’s brilliant. I’m going to hang up my brush.

I got a new bucket hat. I know they are trendy, but I’ve liked them a while, and good coverage from the sun.

Who are we? We are a multiplicity of selves. No portrait is the same person. Each is its own universe of identity. Even the un thought out ones. To look at each one is to learn a glimpse of a universe that is us.

A self-portrait of mine. On the wall is a self-portrait by my daughter hung at school. 6x6”, one day painting. My daughter loved it, and she is my toughest critic.

My wife Debra and I are doing a one painting a day self-portrait challenge. Each is 6x6”. As parents of young kids, time in the studio is tough, but it has been fun to push ourselves to make time. We are on day 21. Doing the same thing pushes us to try different compositions, props.

Watercolor on cut envelope interior from model. Was pleased. It’s fun to paint on patterns. Kind of a new thing for me.

This Spring I’ve been making herbal tea from our herb garden for the first time using fresh herbs. Looking for non-bubbly alternatives to fun Spring/Summer drinks. I LOVE the color. This one has basil, a touch of rosemary, 2 kinds of mint, lemon balm, a Midge of chamomile. It’s been fun.

This weekend I installed the 2025 Spring Juried Student Art Exhibition. What a motivated and wonderful group of students! We are lucky to know them while they come through.

It was my youngest child’s birthday. I made a wax flamingo out of Babybel cheese wax, we opened up some Superman ice cream (beautiful to see, but I did not try it), and art was made with new paint sticks. If only all days could be this beautiful. They really should be.

So, my partner and I are sharing a ten-year anniversary in about 2 weeks. So, we got a new pendant/light fixture for over our kitchen table. Modern/nature vibes feels good.

Took Student Art Gallery Club on a field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago to see Frida. What a great, motivated bunch of students. If a future exists, these students will make it better.
