Now, maybe it’s just my useless knowledge of semiotics, but here’s where things start to fall apart for me. The brand name “Tailor on Tap” is probably meant to suggest that one can buy tailored garments, made to one’s own measurements, on demand. Pull the handle and you get a suit or jacket.

“Custom” doesn’t really mean anything, it’s a blanket term usually applied to 1 of 3 “tiers” of tailored menswear: Bespoke, Made to Measure, or Made to Order. Usually if you’re doing MTO the custom part is the choice of fabric and maybe some details like pocket styles and button colors.

According to their website, they were founded to “make the art of custom clothing accessible to those who care deeply about how they present themselves, without compromising on quality or authenticity.” Note the use of the word “custom”, menswear brands love it, here’s why…
