How about… White?

That’s the opposite of how the usage of “woke” evolved, tho. It was originally a watchword for Black people— “stay woke for hotels that are run by the Klan”— then co-opted by White liberals as term of allyship, and finally co-opted by right-wing media to mean anything imagined to be left of center.

It’s worse than “making it a dirty word,” because “woke” actually means “aware of racism _as a Black person_,” so the term was co-opted both by conservative Whites and by liberal Whites. If only there was a connection there.

And stolen from Black people, naturally.

I love the Dockumentary because it presses the reset button on what “yacht rock” meant in 2006, before the bands wearing captains hats and playing any songs that mention boats came along ten years later.

I’m fascinated by this supposed fiasco, because our Verizon home internet service had been glitchy for months right up until Thursday night when it finally got fixed. Was it buffering on Netflix’s end, or was the signal blurry?

No problems since the broadcast started.
