There may have been fewer, but this is what Horizon Worlds' *experience* felt like.

Not in the straightforward way of replacing the GPU in your case. But they could power world-scale physics simulations for online games. Similar to what Nvidia is imagining with its Omniverse. Now, if only Stadia were not shut down…

I am a little surprised that it takes 3 years to build a bus lane.

Excel is the microwave of software, remaining wildly popular despite going 30 years with only marginal improvements.

When you see robot demo, it tempts you to assume that what you are seeing is just a random sample of the robot's abilities. In reality, it is almost always a choreographed dance taking it through a specific series of actions in a predetermined scenario that has been thoroughly rehearsed and tuned.

I listen to my podcasts with a lag (xkcd.com/606), so posting late. I have been the AI developer for a past CES robot. Those demos — they are really important for investment that keeps a project going. We spent maybe 90% of our time preparing demos, 10% on general purpose functionality.

"Criticisms of AI must include guidance for responsible engagement with it, not just exhortations to avoid it" — same as the current US approach to measles.

That Washroom Strategic Framework report was actually fairly interesting reading.

The "sharing in our customers' success" strategy worked out great for Unity.

In the race between Vancouver and Edmonton, Vancouver finished second to last, while Edmonton earned an honourable silver medal.

This is an article from April 2024. Judging by the comments, it has not aged very well.

The author himself has, more recently, published: Seven Myths about AI and Productivity: What the Evidence Really Says.

Honestly, making an _LLM summary_ of the RAILROAD SAFETY STANDARDS is next level.
December 21, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Incredible! Everyone working on this project must have been fully aware that LLMs would not be fit for purpose. This is like an idiot boss saying: "I think a perpetual motion machine would give my business a competitive advantage," and contractors gladly replying: "no sweat, that will be $300,000."
