Literally all I did outside of my structured activities as a kid was read lol, the only way to effectively punish me was to not let me read

That’s one of the things I always like to say- the majority of kids LOVE reading, and they’re taught not to, whether it’s intentional or not. Kids have such vivid imaginations and books just set that alight

Agreed- just a quick mention on a page at the very beginning with something along the lines of “contains scene(s) depicting XYZ” is more than enough and isn’t spoiling anything/taking anyone out of the story. Just like a rating sign with a film or TV show.
