This society, specifically this country, no longer values art, and they especially do not value artists. And the result of that will be that soon we will live in a gray, colorless, joyless, emotionless, world without any real expression.

A lot of us are needing to be trained in/learn jobs we are not passionate about to subsidize the things we're actually interested in. Let's put this in perspective. I am aiming to TRAIN and PAY to get a job that I do not want to be able to achieve the one I actually do.

My next step is finding a completely unrelated but reliable field (I think I'm leaning towards medicinal maryjane because it's currently one of the largest growing industries in the country). HOWEVER, this is becoming the struggle for a lot of creatives as of late, especially with AI in the mix.

Name me three GOOD animated shows in the last two years. Like genuinely new, good, animated shows. I can't find them and I'm an animation fiend (albeit slightly picky). Animation was BOOMING 10 years ago. This was my fallback. Now writers and animators are being laid off in droves.

What do you do when they tell you tell you to pick a fallback job as a writer/artist/performer/etc. and even the more mundane but semi-related job is becoming a dying art? When I was in school physical media was huge, especially animation.

Screenwriting used to be my fallback because I've always been enamored by being in a writers room. Problem is I want to call the shots. I love having creative freedom, which, out of the editorial phase, writing novels mostly provides. Being in a writers room does not.

Btw if any of you are fucking LOVING this idea lmk. I might post the first couple of chapters on Wattpadd/Ao3/Some other gay fic app if there's some interest, feedback means everything. Yes I know novels are dying, let me live in delusion a bit longer.

Even if it's used I would like to read them chronologically so I'll probably be searching for the paperback edition of IWTV. In the end I'd like to have a matching set of the novels (the broke man's solution until he can afford the hardback covers). I was still so stoked to find this today.

Mind you, they had A LOT of Anne Rice books. Unfortunately they did not have IWTV (this is a college town so I'm assuming this is probably a hot commodity considering they had a few other books from the vampire chronicles). Won't read TVL until I get a copy of IWTV first.
