Didn't know about that but I am not surprised. I don't think that it can be fixed easily by Valve or anyone else. Cheating systems in general was and will always exist for good and bad reasons. Popular list can help but the most important stays the number of copies sold (and the reviews).

I like the feedback of your tower's range. Having the possibility to see multiple towers' range can be usefull. In all case, you will know after testing if you saturated your game with too much details.
