USAID, the federal agency recently shuttered by Musk, buys...no, used to buy, about $2 billion per year in commodities (beans, rice, lentils, wheat, peas, etc.), from U.S. farmers. Now? Nothing. Hardly the type of trickle-down economy that McFelon promised.
What is USAID and How Does it Tie into Agriculture and USDA?
The Trump administration has frozen all international aid and at least temporarily shut down the agency. USAID buys about $2 billion a year in commodities, mainly small grains and pulse crops.
