A bicycle shop at 600 H St. NE in
Washington, DC
Quite possibly a solution. Looks to be fairly DIY, which for some consumers is a limiting factor.

Here's us in 2020, not making an e-waste point, but more to the reliability issues: thedailyriderdc.com/wp-admin/pos...

Seems that they overextended and made some poor decisions. Now their customers are on the hook for bikes that will likely end up in landfills.

How many thousands of bikes just turned into e-waste?

There's a blue t-shirt in my wardrobe with that logo from when my father worked there. It hasn't been worn in years.

Indeed it does. Guess we just bundled all of the DTC bikes into the Bafang basket.

We have an abandoned VanMoof sitting in the back of the shop that has no potential future save for landfill.

At least Lectric and Aventon use Bafang parts.

There's no normal air traffic over or inbound to DCA. That's weird for this time of day unless they cleared it for this flyover.

And looking at it, the supplemental security offered by a tracking and lockout system doesn't prevent someone from loading it into a van.

The frame dimensions appear to be difficult to fit a standard bicycle lock around.

What if Bionx, but with the potential for a subscription based service?

VanMoof, but the headlight doubles as a removable speaker?

We had another failed "pedaling is separated from wheel" e-bike concept in the shop a few years back and it was so disconcerting it encouraged treating it as a motorcycle.

Conveniently, find and replace "bicycle" with "cars" is an almost pitch-perfect letter to the editor.

Then we mention that we're open, and in person 6 days a week.

OMG.

We suggest exactly that. Or the other challenge, locate a phone number for the company. After sitting in endless phone queues, waiting weeks for a single email response from some "NIFTY" brands, only to be shipped the wrong part, we gave up on servicing the electrical systems on them.

We're so close to refusing service on these. They steal so much time and don't get any measurable result for the customer.

Put on a rain jacket before setting off so you can start the sweating in advance!

We love seeing the milestones our customers are able to accomplish on their bikes.
