Going through basically an entire month unit on white retrenchment over the slave system and every day is a new adventure in them discovering bad faith arguments leveled against racial equality and abolition.

Had my 9th graders read some snippets of Calhoun this week and even preppy charter school teenagers could identify "oh this guy is big racist" and yet somehow it's the Very Smart Adults who want to hedge about what's what these days.
