Then I get to work on the outer fabric

I'm using a white crepe (my beloved)

I create a center seam, then begin pintucking away from the center on both sides

My pintucks are about 1 inch apart

I then top stitch the pintucks down and now the panel is ready to be installed

Next, the bodysuit!

I ordered a white leotard from Bloch to modify

For the bust, I installed a pair of bust cups I got for $2 from JoAnn (RIP)

I like to add cups to any garment if it makes it easier for me to wear

I superglue fleece to the backside, then they're ready to be sewn on!

I whipstitch using black invisible thread.

Now when I made these, I had a super low resolution image so I thought the centers were diamonds...apparently they're round!

Oh well, this isn't for a comp ;) so we're good!

Next, I use acrylic paints to color

I mixed blues, yellows, greens, & white to get my desired color

I use a muted sage green (almost gray) for shadows, and yellows and pale green (almost white) for highlights

I then coat in UV resin, cure, then spray on Aleene's Pearlescent Spray for shine
May 6, 2025 at 5:59 AM
I then coat the worbla in about 4 thin layers of wood glue, making sure each layer fully dries before applying the next.

I used a few coats of Rustoleum 2-in-1 Filler Sandable Primer, then sanded the surfaces down smooth
May 6, 2025 at 5:59 AM
Last but not least, we make moths!

The moths are EVA foam pieces I cut and glued with purple Elmer's glue, then wrapped in Worbla

Remember EVA releases fumes when heated! Have good ventilation and wear a respirator

To finish the skirt, I add a zipper to the back for closure

I sewed two things of fur (shaved rectangles), stuffed em with Polyfil, then sealed the raw edge with white bias tape.

This gets whipstitched onto the waistband
May 6, 2025 at 5:59 AM
The skirt then gets pleated and pressed

I top stitched about 4 inches down each pleat

This is because Juni has a short torso that I don't have. I don't want the skirt to look too long with a super wide waistband so this is my solution
May 6, 2025 at 5:59 AM
Measurements? Eh, just wing it

For the skirt lining I flat line black cotton broadcloth to tutu net for some structure. The fashion fabric is black cotton twill

I topstitch the bias tape to the hem of the twill, then sew the hemline lining to fashion together

I understitch the seam allowance

First of all, we tryna save money here, so this is a stash buster

luckily I have EVERY fabric I need in my stash, including the fur

I only need green RIT dye so we make a quick trip to JoAnn (RIP) and make some custom bias tape outta cotton broadcloth

We also dye some white chiffon (for later!)

Okay! We making this last minute for a con

This isn't a competition cosplay, so we are having fun with it and if something's not perfect, well, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Been needing an easy but stimulating project to do for a while now so let's get into it!

Umbrella Streamers functioned similarly but sized for the umbrella

Used two panels of spandex with a button & loop, I pull the loop off to release the pre-rolled ribbons
May 6, 2025 at 5:29 AM
Last but not least, Props!

Quick Run Down:

- Umbrella + red resin
- Mirror = Cardboard, Velcro, PETG, Clear Vinyl, + Hot Glue
- Bloody Streamers = Inspired by handheld party poppers, resets by rolling ribbon up and closing with flap, closed by snaps, pull on ribbon tab to release

I made a duct tape pattern for the socks, cut em outta white spandex, then handsewed em to dance tights while I wore em

I also handsewed lace trim

Dance tights keeps the false thigh highs up

It's time for accessories!

I used a blank for the headband, wrapped it in satin with a light coat of tacky glue (so it doesn't soak through) and then sealed the ends with hot glue and black gimp

Surprisingly this stayed on extremely well? The grip was kinda insane and I didn't have to use pins

When removing make sure to follow the instructions for the adhesive you're using.

I use Prosaide, so I use a combo of Isopropyl Myristate and make up remover

Always do a test patch for new products on your skin, including removers, especially if you have allergies

As for the beading, I try to apply everything thinking about how gravity works

I have larger beads in heavier areas "guiding" the drips downwards

Now I cut these out and wear em! I can also hand wash and reuse. Since the fabric is resin-coated, sometimes rhinestones pop off; Gemtac em back on!
May 6, 2025 at 5:20 AM
For the pieces that go on my skin, I tested fleece prosaided to my skin for any reactions

I dyed muslin, HeatN'Bonded it to the fleece, then embroidered an outline, applied resin, and began beading & stoning

If you haven't seen it (or don't want to), heavy bleeding tends to coagulate in fabric and becomes a brighter red

It's not super bright red like a fresh cut, but a deep crimson. This tends to occur for injuries like damage to the major organs, so make sure to leave bright spots
May 6, 2025 at 5:20 AM
having different shades shows how old the blood is, with darker burgundies for old thoroughly soaked blood, lighter browns for dried light areas, and deep crimsons for intense areas

Not something I recommend for everyone, but seeing gore/forensic photos has helped me understand how blood works
May 6, 2025 at 5:20 AM
For the body of the dress, as seen earlier in the thread, I applied this colored resin to the outer shell

I then added red seed beads, pearls, tear drop beads, and rhinestones in different shades and sizes

The main thing to remember is that blood stains *through* fabric
May 6, 2025 at 5:20 AM
Remember, we want things washable

I mixed up a bunch of paints in different colors and tested it on a scrap of the red matte satin

I found some pearls and beads were too bright red so I mixed red RIT dye with resin and coated those

just a slight glaze changed how they shined and darkened them
