That’s depressing but relatable. And now that I’m freelancing full time, I am encountering the truly broad range of how much I’m edited. Barely at all some places, with rigor at others. It’s so bizarre.

For a recent publication, I had to submit full transcripts (and will for assignment going forward, it is just part of the submission doc) of my interviews and stuff like this is why. I don’t mind, but it’s wild that we’re in a place where publications have to demand it.

Avra’s splashy debut felt more style than substance; Georgie’s new chef shows promise but still has kinks to work out. Meridian reminded me what bold, creative cooking can do when it’s firing on all cylinders. And then there’s Molino Oloyo — a pop-up so good it outshined them all.
