The 2026 Winter Olympics opened in Italy today. Our Dogs love the Winter Olympics and have been in training for weeks. But they arrived at the Ski Venue only to be disappointed. Sometimes life isn't fair.

The lies, abuse of power, corruption, denial of the rule of law, rejection of science, insults, threats, etc. etc. continue with virtually no GOP pushback. Our Dogs are genuinely concerned. But they hope they have a solution!

The country had a huge storm on January 24-25. The Washington DC area was hard hit by snow, sleet, ice, followed by freezing temperatures. It is now almost two weeks and our Dogs are still shivering. They share some typical Washington humor.....

A lot of people are concerned that Trump and his allies plan to disrupt the 2026 election. The Dogs saw this report that confirms there is reason for deep deep concern.

The President loves getting awards. Sometimes he may break a record and become #1 - but not in a good way. But in his eyes, any #1 Award is still something to boast about. Our Dogs noticed this and are keeping track of his not-so-good #1 awards. Here, he is setting a new record!

Our Dogs are always eager to learn and they are lucky the local teacher welcomes them to class. She will be offering periodic Words of the Day. And the dogs are pretty good at finding appropriate, relevant uses of the word. Here is today's Word of the Day.

Sunday, Feb 8, 2026 is Super Bowl LX. Millions of Americans will be glued to TV sets watching huge players and funny ads. But a hearty bunch of DOG LOVERS will tune in to the 2026 Puppy Bowl XXII to see the 15 cutest, best trained, perfectly groomed dogs - and have the chance to adopt 150 dogs.

Trump and MAGA seem to be defying many traditional Republican beliefs. Things like small government, states rights, and economic policy have been turned upside down. The new GOP has an all-powerful executive, a $75 billion ICE force, and destruction of GOP who disagree. All in one year.

The President has been in office a year and many experts have calculated his personal wealth grew an unprecedented $3+ Billion. While he prospered on crypto, etc., many investors lost a lot of money and the majority of Americans believe he has not kept his economic promises. The Dogs noticed!

With diversions from Ukraine - ICE, Venezuela, Iran, declining polls - some have forgotten about the devastation that Putin is inflicting on Ukraine daily. Trump says he is frustrated with Putin but has not demonstrated strength to allow Ukraine to prevail. The Dogs noticed and still wonder why.

During the January snow and ice storm, Trump repeated the scientific and political lie that "climate is a hoax." Snow in winter doesn't prove our entire globe isn't warming! But he keeps repeating it despite the clear scientific evidence. Our Climate Dogs wonder what he learned at Wharton.

That January 2026 storm was severe enough that schools had to close. Not only did our Dogs enjoy frolicking in the snow, but kids had something to cheer too.

This was a New Years Wish List I produced on 12-31-25 but didn't post on Bluesky. It was one of the first I created and I think it deserves to be here - especially since we are still hoping for those good things to come back....

The East Coast had a big snow storm at the end of January 2026. One guy complained it proved global warming was a hoax. While others just enjoyed the fun winter weather.

The East Coast and Washington area suffered a huge snow storm and just got a new warning for an unusual "cyclone bomb" storm for the coming weekend. Washington also suffers from a political storm. That made the Dogs wonder what kind of storm this was going to be.

On January 30th, the President sued the IRS for $10 Billion! That made our Climate Dog wonder if Trump would use his usual form of threats and coercion to encourage a positive outcome. Also, a Google search revealed NO OTHER President has ever sued the government for cash damages. Another First!

A few weeks ago, Pete Hegseth hypocritically criticized Sen. Mark Kelly for saying the same thing he had said while on Fox news. In our Dog's world, Fox news would impose a similar penalty on its former employee.

There has been concern that the Department of Justice has changed under this President..... Our Dog finds a new plaque on the front of DOJ.

The images on TV of a woman being killed as she tries to drive away and of American Citizens being arrested is shocking. The statistics of who is being detained is even more shocking. The dogs have the facts......

There has always been some question about the President's education. He asked to see Obama's academic record - but never revealed his own. There was suspicion about how he qualified to get into Wharton. And now the Dogs have found reason to question the quality of his education.....

The President has been confident for a LONG time that he could do awful things without consequence. Remember what he said in 2016? And a new version recently as we reflect on his orders for ICE. And, so far, he is right......
