It's gonna be super fun to see the "market" react to AI companies introducing "surge pricing" for compute: Oh, you need to get this project done till Friday and all your staff is just vibecoding? Token price is now 5 times the normal amount.

This reminds me of the time I spent as a driver for community service.
The fare was from a residential area to a local dog sports club deep in the woods. I rang the doorbell, a nice old lady opened, fetched her coat and loudly […]

PSA: If you block the `claude` user on GitHub, you'll get a warning every time you view a repo with that user in its commit history.

This allows you to, the moment you look at a repo, immediately adjust your expectations.

You know that “stop forcing AI into fucking everything” graphic that went around on here?

I bought the t-shirt. I get a lot of compliments on it.

The only negative response was from a friend who works for McKinsey. She read out the “everyone hates it” and said, “do they really, though?” as we […]

Maybe we should establish a "maintenance.md" practice just like "readme.md" or "LICENSE" where you just clearly outline the amount of maintenance the project/development team are planning to put into the code base and under which conditions.
I have seen that a few times but maybe it should be […]

Not to brag, but if anthropic had paid me $20,000 and given me a month I'd also have been able to write them a very shitty C compiler.

This whole "OpenClaw" thing has made me very angry and I wrote a bit about the why. It's not that "it's AI": It is the way that kind of project invalidates decades of work and care in free software. "AI" software isn't just careless, it is actively rejecting responsibility and care […]

Don't anthropomorphize LLMs, language is important. Say "the bot generated some text" not "the AI replied". Use "this document contains machine-generated text" not "this work is AI-assisted". See how people squirm when you call their slop out this way.

in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with.

this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

LLMs are random content […]
