Also, I wouldn't exactly call Altoona a small town. I can't find how many sworn officers it has but the city has 43,000 people with over 115,000 in the rest of Blair County. It's not New York but PA has a number of counties with fewer people than Altoona.

There is nothing to say to people who look at a displacement trend driven by cultural preferences, and think they can downzone their way to preservation. You can't prevent elderly Asians from moving out or dying, and you can't prevent non-Asians from moving into old units thanks to fair housing!

Useless platitudes dragging out meetings is a thing that drives me absolutely crazy. Unless one employee is killing it so hard that the entire group needs to know about it, save the praise for the annual performance review

I knew the song but as another poster said, I always thought they were saying "Diane" not "Dyin". Knowing that, it sounds like the singer telling someone else the fate of everyone he was living with in a flop house.

I almost feel like people think "no homelessness" is one of the services they are paying for when they live in the suburbs. Something similar to having your street plowed or your leaves picked up.
