Gotta be Kaleb Johnson 👀💅🏽. Blud getting hype when idk what he does to differentiate himself from the Chuba/Dowdle/Allegier tier of low end starters

Odd front are guys who can two gap a bit more and have more size and length.
DPRs are guys who are mainly
Useful on passing downs but want to keep em away from early down stuff cause of lack of size and play strngth.
Could organize em better but meh
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
Are just early down guys, DPRs, or lacking traits to be quality starters.
Will admit not sure what to call these roles. NT self explanatory as big body guys who should play over the C more.
Even front means more athletic guys who should mainly 1 gap or gap and half or slant
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
These are players who are either more quality run defenders who can do stuff in pass game (cause athleticism), more balanced, or quality role players in pass rushes that can do some early down stuff.

DT3's are more backup players who are okay role players that either...

And guys you can set up 1 on 1s for. But the high end DT1s are generally the guys you build your pass rush around whereas other DT1s are more high end role players who can win 1 on 1s considtsntly

DT2's are guys who can be quality role players and guys you want to give starting snaps (50%+)
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
DTs have a mix of roles/responsibilities like Run D, Slanting, Stunting, Containing, pushing pocket, and then 1 on 1 winning.
DT1 to me are the heavy snap players who can make a impact in both phases in the game. These are just guys that can fulfill these roles at a high level.
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
But this it the main reason i dont value 1 on 1 winning that much and care way more about early down work and being a role player. Hard to be a DPR as a DT and play a lot of snaps. So a long explanation to say....
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
On these situations teams play run gaps first then pass rush, edges contain, nt 2 gaps in a way or is just a contain player and then the DT over the G (as 3t or 2 or slants to it) gets the 1 on 1. Since its neutral situation usually its quick game stuff tbh so dudes just bull rush or try to swatball
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
Chris Jones, Dex, Q, Jalen Carter are some dudes where the team will set up 1 on 1's for em. Some of these players are on teams that blitz a lot on passing downs to free em up. DTs do get more natural 1 on 1's on early/neutral downs though 👀
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
Sometimes need 5 pass rushing threats and have a LB blitz or hold a G/C which can take from coverage or do some movements that can create the 1 on 1. Takes more work than the edge which is why more edges get 1 on 1s set up. The guys that do get these as a DT are guys like...
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
Main thing is that it takes more to isolate a G or C with the DT, can try to set em up with formation and put em as a 3T but teams can find a way to help the G on passing downs. And another issue is just the spacing, creating the space for a 1 on 1 inside takes a bit...
February 3, 2025 at 11:10 AM
So with the DTs its a little different. A Dude at DT is different than having a Dude at Edge. So in terms of evals i do value early down stuff and role player stuff way more than winning 1 on 1s. Main reason is how teams set them up. DTs dont get as much true 1 on 1s set up.

Similar to edge big board in thoughts and process, where the tiers represent how i feel about the prospect and their potential/role and where its generally taken. Not a fan of rankings cause its more subjective
My 2025 edge Big Board (pre senior Bowl/Combine) doubt things will change much with these dudes, will add dudes after but 🤷🏾‍♂️

Special Thanks to
@coverageposter @GregThatPenguin @GabLikesFball
For any help and the first two for the skill guys cause i aint know nothing about them skinnies
February 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Defense is better here too, skimping out a bit on LB but theres some young guys that can grow, worse case scenario Witherspoon and Eman play more in the box but 🤷🏾‍♂️. Secondary looks more legit now with a better passrush. Hard to know how good Reddick will be but is a legit athlete
February 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Overall... Looks better as a team now. Trenches were a huge issue and its tough seeing this team spend legit capital on their IOL. The offense just needs to be real again. Its tough without a run game and relying on Geno to save you every 3rd and long. Klint and a better OL helps
February 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
And special teams here 💅🏽
February 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Love has been solid for this team. Bryant another dude that wasnt bad when he had to play. Solid in coverage and coming up in run fits. And Nick Eman brings some physicality and athleticism that this team can use. Nice in coverage and can play in the box
February 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Witherspoon is so great as their NB, great in coverage and can play in the box. Extremely physical and just makes plays. Woolen okay, super athletic. Reed good and dependable. Everyone else just depth
February 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
Ernest jones helped make this LB core legit. Was a real player for this team. Banking on Knight developing. Shemar jones athletic and can be a Will backer
