My dad was a doctor (pediatrician). I inherited a well-informed disgust for both everything insurance companies are doing (and he barely dealt with prior auths) and all the MBAs commodifying care. I’d warn all my pre med friends what was in store for them.

Heh, this fourth generation Polish/German-American Baltimorean grew up with sausage and sauerkraut at Thanksgiving (next to a Turkey, sure).

My dream, however, was just to have a crab feast (the best feast).

When I saw how many Christmas movies Netflix is already dropping this week, I thought to myself, I hope Linda Holmes gives us a ranked list of ones worth watching. We’ve got our first rec!!

I really miss the ABC Family ones. They were the perfect amount of unhinged.

From reading the lede I immediately imagined Keri Russell as Don Draper and I’ve never wanted anything more (especially after devouring all of The Diplomat last week).

crazy how much this bugs me now that someone pointed it out. if i worked at the white house, i would find this ugly, but not as annoying as i do now. ignorance is really bliss bc they more you learn, the more you just walk around thinking "collar gap" and "kerning is off."

They anticipate losing a lot of folks in the healthy pool, sure, but really, for profit health insurance will always have misaligned incentives.

Prior auths should be a crime.

I have POTS so this is now a requirement, but honestly it’s made me be choosier in a way that has improved so much of my experience at them regardless. Nicer venues, better crowds, etc.

I’m just really glad people other than musical theater nerds will know about Charles Guiteau. Such an odd man, but of course I can only ever see him doing a cakewalk.
