Both of my teen sons are high performance water polo players - the game is a death match where the refs can only see half of the carnage. Fingers are routinely broken.

This is the closest anyone's ever come to actually selling RHCP to me as something worth listening to. Almost.

Stop Making Sense
Broadcast News
Raising Arizona
Pee Wee's Big Adventure

That's four of mine!

Also...
Modern Romance
Paris, Texas
Airplane!
This is Spinal Tap

Thank God for comedies. 80s prestige largely stinks.

Nice to see some hometown boys getting love.

Yeah, more of a classic rock/modern rock radio staple. It's hard-hitting nonsense, which is why the Melvins covered it so well.

Cannot really fathom a world where "Black Betty" isn't just in the ether. I guess that world is Miami.

This is relatable. Smart enough to know why it's funny, too dumb to understand why it's not funny for everyone

Still some of the funniest content on the internet. Their podcasts are must-listens.

How to survive 79-80: Pig out on Bill Murray, celebrate Jane Curtain's slow but unending ascent, savor the Harry Shearer morsels.

@stevenhyden.bsky.social PLEASE LISTEN TO PROPAGANDHI!!

Master, 4 and Sabotage are the three albums that you can throw on top without me getting all pissy. So congrats!

I'm bullish on Blueprint being the one. In fact, my next best would be Vol. 3, which is not a popular opinion (though it should be)

I'll concede the Stones. I think Exile is 1A, but then there are a couple that would be 1B, 1C and 1D (including Sticky Fingers), so it's tough to parse. I would say The Royal Scam is the Dan's first masterpiece and think of it as the beginning of a perfect trilogy, but Aja remains THE ONE.

Cam'ron - Come Home With Me
Dismemberment Plan - Is Terrified
Trail of Dead - Madonna
Jay-Z - The Dynasty
Steely Dan - The Royal Scam
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers (???)

It's always been corny to love Sea Change.

With Sabbath it's tough, the hit album is Paranoid, but the best album is Vol. 4.

Over 30 years, I've seen thinkpieces about a crisis in rock music, and I'm like, guys, Propagandhi is RIGHT HERE. They've been on another level in terms of content for 30 years and another lever musically for 25. Begging for a Supporting Caste Sunday Review.
November 6, 2025 at 8:54 PM
Didn't respond from a few weeks ago, but thank you for shining a light on the new Propagandhi. It's always been weird to me that the band doesn't get a lot of shine outside of, say, PunkNews spaces.

DeBarge's In a Special Way is an essential album. I also love Luther Vandross' Busy Body.

I love that this album's reputation continues to grow in estimation.

Banger list. The Dreaming is Bush's most thrilling (and consistent!). Remain in Light and Hunky Dory are no duh. Pretty Toney needs to be celebrated more. Vol. 3 too (although I don't agree, I celebrate those who argue it's Jay-Z's best). Superunknown is the only grunge album I love. Love Luther.
