The thing that I’ve noticed about the deep seated conservatives I’ve worked with in my time in Texas is that they have a deep love and loyalty for their families and pets and their chosen circle. Anyone else has to prove their worth to “deserve” love, care, or support.

They think that the only reason we care is because it’s a gotcha against their team, because that’s the only reason *they* care

The idea that it’s a moral injustice that disgusts us and cries out for remedy regardless of the perpetrator simply doesn’t occur to them
