This will forever by my favorite Star Wars meme. If I could, I'd get this in a museum quality frame for my house.

For years, I've been hollering about the issue of reading with young men and their education. (I'm a trained teacher by trade & taught middle school English for 2 years at the start of my career).👇

U.S. women are outpacing men in college completion, including in every major racial and ethnic group

I'm closing out Year 31 at #SXSW. I'm always happy when this even skews towards the hard sciences. We're about to see some amazing growth as new, powerful tools get moved to users.

If we can manage to do it ethically, we're about to enter a fascinating age.

SXSW 2025. So glad to be back in person after a few years living virtually!

Starting off with my old stomping ground MIT Technology Review and its annual 10 Breakthrough Technologies!

If you're at #SXSW, let's meet up and say hi!

Billionaires who started their companies in freaking house garages telling me I need to work 60 hours a week in an office to be productive are some kind of stupid.

A little morning reading to confuse the shit out of me before I start work, #amreading #book #science

This is the level of explanation I need to even begin to grasp the idea of an actual multiverse & string theory 🤓😎 Also, I'm dying trying to keep up. #science #read #amreading

Today's reading that is blowing my mind. I love me some string theory and cosmology #amreading #book #science

The more people learn how to train #AI on their work, the more interesting things will become.

For the "I'll never use AI" folks, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this? #technology

Research for my next big project at Carnegie Mellon: engaged.
January 17, 2025 at 7:51 PM
I will be interested to see how this changes now that I am posting regularly here.

Books, publishing, writing, AI all sound about right at the moment.

I trained Claude.AI using my old performance reviews, resumes, tenure documents, work accomplishments, and writing style.

I have used it to develop my resume and talking points to explain my career. (Complete with data it pulls from all those documents.)

Back in the good old days of 2005 when MIT's Technology Review hosted an event at NYU, and I moderated our discussion with @joetrippi.bsky.social and @espiers.bsky.social.

If I was guessing: it was about the power of the Web and democratized media systems 😬

What I love is that you can also create dependencies. You can tie the start of one task to the completion of another. That allows you to adjust THE WHOLE PROJECT TIMELINE if earlier tasks get pushed back. You can also visualize that on a calendar—and integrate it with your Google or Apple calendar!
January 6, 2025 at 5:33 PM
You can create dynamic project phases and timelines without a big learning curve. For instance, I use a general project management form for each project. During meetings with our team and stakeholders, I take notes on the charter document, adding meetings, deadlines, and project information.

Dark, Mysterious, Emotional, Intense. --> That about sums it up. (The books I read, I mean.)

Next stop: Asheville.

For now: love in the Appalachian mountains!

Asheville, I'll be in you tomorrow, and I just found out there's a reading series at CITIZEN VINYL. Is anyone else going?

Oh man, on a call with Millennials who just tried to claim the Beastie Boys as "theirs," and let me tell you, my GenX ass went all

I am just about ready to open up the house for writers who need a free/cheap place to get away! Desk and bookcase on the way. Hoping to get The Jam Retreat page ready next month.

*Pet and kid-friendly, for those who might need it.
