Just bringing up stomach contents.

Oh there was no blockage. They just wanted to see if there was. The issue seems to be with her stomach muscles not working. Like I think it started that they were periodically working bc some stuff was in her intestines. But by yesterday it was not working at all. And Sunday night the etube was

I had booked an appt for her dental but I guess I don’t need that any more.

The motility aid should have sort of prompted her stomach to start moving things forward again but it didn’t. So some neurological thing where the muscles were just not doing anything.

An etube because her liver showed signs of fatty liver disease from not eating. Tube feeding her was to get her eating, clear up her liver and then encourage her to eat on her own. But what we put in her stomach just stayed there. And we discovered that over the next few days.

They noticed that and some spots on her tongue the first visit. It was new cavity & they didn’t think it would cause her to stop eating. So we tried pain meds first but that didn’t encourage her to eat. So the. The surgery to look for a blockage. Finding none we went to the feeding tube because

They did take biopsy samples in the exploratory surgery so they will get those results and let me know what it comes back as but I’m told it may show nothing with the stomach. I think the vets are really kind of curious about things because it is so weird.

She was my lemon cat. And if it was indeed an autoimmune disease, there were probably other things hiding in her tiny body. They also found the start of a cavity on her tooth & it was the type cats can get a specific type of cavity that is genetic and autoimmune related.

I didn’t start beginning to process that I may very well have to let her go until last night. So I just hung out with her on the sofa and gave her pets and love.

It went fr believing it to be a very common situation of a cat not eating for a fixable reason - the bloodwork was good on that 1st day. But day by day, things started getting worse bit by bit & it really wasn’t until last night when we realized that this was not normal & maybe couldn’t be fixed.

The loss of all my pets has devastated me, but with the others, they were old and bc they were old I’d thought about losing them; there was an understanding it was coming. Calliope just turned 5 and was healthy up until last Wed/Thurs. And it went from 0 to 60 so fast.

I will update the GoFundMe with the latest changes though I still need help with the bills. Despite some very generous deductions by the get, it was still VERY expensive. I tried all I could to save her and I am glad I got to experience her life with her.

This also explains why she could not 🤮 up the contents of her stomach. Your stomach muscles do that. Her prognosis was bad and the only choice was to let her go. The vet guesses that it is maybe an autoimmune disease and her body was attacking those muscles.

Small intestine. It was just sitting there like a balloon full of anything she’d eaten. We tried a Hail Mary with a motility aid to try and kick start her stomach. It didn’t work, the contents didn’t move, and her fever (maybe from an infection related to her stomach) was still there. 2/?

Well, it’s not looking great for her. We’re trying one last Hail Mary today but if it doesn’t work, I will most likely have to let her go. The vet says that she is quite an anomaly and they cannot find another case like hers. Her stomach basically isnt working to move things through.

Which is not the greatest when you want the food to get to her stomach.
November 17, 2025 at 5:27 PM
I’m hoping so. Because without the tube she’s not eating or drinking anything which causes the fatty liver issues. So I need to get food into her until she’s interested in eating on her own. She’s at the vet again for a post op checkup since things seem to be coming up the tube instead if going down

I was told by someone that how the cat is sitting could be causing the tube to kink a bit. But she’s also so pissy about feeding that she immediately tries to leave when she sees me coming with the syringes to give her the food. 😭
November 17, 2025 at 4:15 AM
I think she’s getting spunkier but it means that she’s not letting me feed her the full amount of food the vet wants me to before she is squirming and trying to run away. Which is good but also I am worrying that she’s not getting enough. Not eating is what got us here.

Often I cut the stuff out after I stitch it with a hoop. It is more the size of the frame versus the size of the thing you are making that is what causes waste. If you have a huge frame but a small image the size of fabric needs to fit the frame and will waste lost.

Frames are literally a life saver. For a cheaper version I’ve used those round embroidery frames. You can get wood ones in multiple sizes.
