We traded our copy of EARTH for LONDON 2nd edition, and I’m feeling chuffed about it.
It’s a beautiful production and a much better fit for us.

Underwater Cities by Vladimir Suchy 🏙️
Cho took this one pretty early on. She had a nice engine going, and was able to build up much faster than me. Good game.

I played some really good puzzle games this year (Recursed was my favorite), but the real MVP is the Steam Deck’s “suspend” feature. Being able to pause & resume anytime has allowed me to sink an impressive(?) number of hours into KCD despite my “casual gamer” availability.

Gah! Founders of Gloomhaven is one of the most frustrating #boardgames I’ve played in a while!
Good ideas, buried under muddled graphic design and counterintuitive rules. I think there is a good game under there (somewhere), but it places the onus on its players to excavate it.

I like when games allow players to fail.
Games aren't real life. There are no lasting consequences to making poor choices. Try something new, lose horribly (or maybe not!), and then play again. Sharp edges tend to produce the most memorable plays.

I’m really impressed with the production of Kutna Hora by CGE.
The metallic flourishes and subtle details in the art are not very noticeable in photos, but it looks great! Very clever component design as well.
To me, this is the ideal amount of “deluxification” for a board game.

New to us are: Fort and Planet Unknown… which is pretty much all we’ve been playing for the past week.
I’m lukewarm on Planet Unknown, but Cho is addicted. I’m really enjoying Fort though. It feels more like a Chudyk-lite than a deckbuilder.
