In Scotland, the introduction of a national PrEP program led to a 19.7% reduction in new HIV diagnoses among MSM. In Kenya and Uganda, PrEP was associated with a 74% lower HIV incidence among initiators compared to matched controls.

In Cotonou, Benin, a study estimated that PrEP prevented 0.4% of infections over 20 years. In Montréal, Canada, PrEP averted an estimated 20% of cumulative HIV acquisitions among men who have sex with men from 2015 to 2021.
