sometimes i feel it's strange the degree in which i do not experience parasocial relationships. i'm capable of respecting well known creators and even adoring the "character" they play of themselves, smosh is a good example of this but. beyond that concept? i do not comprehend it. baffling.

i'm a curator, not a general audience. always have been. felt very respected in this regard recently. and glad that my friends appreciate this aspect about me. it's almost funny they can get me into things i was resistant to just by enjoying this facet of my personality.
i want to analyze things in the niche bubble im into, and clearly many people like that; hell, that was my entire following on social media. i just don't like it the other way around, unless i have the same tastes. finding the right people to drag me into fandoms was hard but it happens sometimes.
it's so weird the difference between being invited to a fandom for the sake of the invitee, and being invited for the sake of yourself. i don't ever tend to the latter myself, but i appreciate people who do, who really just want people to enjoy things. people are compatible in different ways.
