87 years ago today, 35 people lost their lives when an Edinburgh-Glasgow express smashed into the back of a Dundee-Glasgow local at Castlecary, near Falkirk. Here in early 1938, we see one of the locos, A3 No. 2744 'Grand Parade' awaiting it's fate at Doncaster.

The NBR provided one hospital train during WW1, and as can be seen, its formation was made up of internally modified luggage vans, supplemented by 3 compartment brake 3rds and a 12 wheel dining carriage. All vehicles retained their NB livery.

An early 1890s photo of a GNoS 'Subby' service on the suburban line, with one of the plucky little E class 0-6-0Ts working hard. Following the introduction of the 0-4-4Ts, the 0-6-0Ts were taken off the passenger work.
