A reminder of how impactful Esther was to Gotham’s 2024 campaign.

The team scored a lot more goals in the last 12 matches of the season when she was healthy, compared to the first 16 when she was absent or uncomfortable.

But one of Gotham's biggest problems this game was not being clinical in front of goal, an issue they've had in the past. When looking at PSxG - xG to isolate shot quality alone, Reign added a lot more value to their shots than Gotham did, and that showed in the 1-1 scoreline.

As striker, Esther had a strong performance, with by far the highest shooting and receiving g+ values this match. These statistics demonstrate strong positioning and high quality shots.

On expected assists and expected assisted goals, Sarah Schupansky was excellent, especially considering it was her first professional game. Not surprising—last year she had 15 assists at Pitt, the most in the NCAA.

Coach Juan Carlos Amorós: "I think we were very good in our defensive structures. I think we conceded one shot the whole game on goal. And I think overall, they didn't really create any any chances. So that's a good point to continue from last year."
