We grew up with Cold War propaganda and we won.

Rambo fought tyranny.
Riggs fought apartheid.

Yet Stallone and Gibson endorsed its opposite.

We knew what fascism looked like.
Some chose it anyway.

I do not believe that this is what Martha Bomgardner, aka Martha-Ann Alito, had in mind. apropos as it may be.

BLM protesters blocking roads were mocked, dehumanized, and blamed for their injuries. Drivers who hit them were defended, and laws were passed to protect those drivers.

Now they justify a shooting for trying to drive away from armed, masked men. This is escalation, not inconsistency.

That mindset isn’t a deviation, it is the predictable outcome of the Electoral College, where winning power does not require winning the people. Treating the presidency as factional rule is the logical endpoint: power without majority legitimacy.

Free speech is treated as absolute until it interferes with power.

Then it’s narrowed through platforms, surveillance, economic pressure, and the quiet redefinition of who counts as a threat.

We’re watching a modern version play out now, with better technology and the same incentives.

An argument can even be made that the incompetence is by design. And those who “don’t care” are ultimately our collective representatives in Congress.
