I’m a dad neurodivergent dad to 3 autistic kids. What RFK Jr. said about autism is dangerous, disgusting, and deeply hurtful. I have some thoughts.

Independence isn’t optional; it’s essential.

Autistic adults deserve funding for job training, life skills development, and support programs that promote autonomy and dignity.

Let’s invest in inclusion.

Sensory needs are real and valid.

From noise-canceling headphones to weighted blankets, fidget tools, and quiet spaces these supports help autistic individuals feel safe and thrive.

We have to stop invalidating other autism parents experiences. Everyone is different and that’s okay. It’s so important that we all coexist, learn from, and support each others journeys, even if they’re not all the same. ❤️🫶

We need to normalize parents experiencing emotion when their child is diagnosed with a disability like #autism, #adhd, or any other #disability. ❤️🫶

Meltdowns are involuntary and a sign of overstimulation. They're not a disciplinary issue or a sign of a bad parent. Be kind, patient, and supportive. ❤️🫶

Did you know this about autism?
Girls and women are often underdiagnosed.
Autism can look different in females.
Many go undiagnosed for years.

It’s time we change that.

I’d love to grow my presence here on BlueSky. I talk about parenting kids with disabilities, as I’m a dad to 3 autistic kids and I’m neurodivergent myself. I’d love to connect. #autism

What has me most concerned about the proposed autism registry?

Parents are feeling trapped between helping their kids by getting them diagnosed — and protecting them by avoiding a diagnosis to keep them off a potential list.

This is bigger than politics.

I really don’t feel like self care today but I’m pushing myself to at least show up. I’m focusing on building routine and getting back into the habit. One day at a time. 🫶💪

My 19 year old autistic son Elliott and I just got home from your cross-country adventure. We had a great time and you guys had some questions….

“Does Elliott find it easy to sleep in the car?”

Raising a child with a disability isn’t easy, and we’ll make mistakes. But while we won’t be perfect parents, we are the perfect parents for our kids. Keep showing up, keep loving, and keep going. ❤️🫶

Parenting can be tough, and some days feel heavier than others. But kindness is powerful—sometimes, a simple smile or a kind word can turn someone’s whole day around. Be the reason someone smiles today. You never know who needs it most. ❤️
