Elegant design greets me at Othello. Toby Jones's wonderfully spiteful, scheming Iago and David Harewood's charismatic, vulnerable Othello create a thrilling spiral down to shattering tragedy. Jones gives a masterclass on creepy villains.

Eye to eye with Mr Darcy, George IV, Jane Eyre, Col. Brandon, the Granthams in half circle, Poirot on the trail at Cosprop exhibition. The garments paired with iconic tunes tell the tales even before the cameras start rolling. Stunning craftsmenship, exquisite details. Fashion And Textile Museum

Macbeth: For the first time I get the full story of Lady M. Sublime performance by Lia Williams. Initially pushing M to heinous slaughter, she underestimates her conscience, makes amends by protecting the children. Her suicide on stage enriches her role and gives the Tomorrow speech more substance.

RSC Macbeth: While Heffernan's and Simm's M started in innocence and the prophecy stirred up a vision, Sam Heughan seems to already have the darkness in him and is easily persuaded by his ambitious wife. Intense performance by Lia Williams, see separate post. Glasgow gangster milieu convinces.

Queens, Princesses and Duchesses wore their precious jewels. The Cartier exhibition at Victoria & Albert Museum explores high craftsmenship and creativity.

Creditors at Orange Tree Theatre What a delightfully vile play about a vindictive man destroying his ex-wife's marriage with a web of hints, allegations, insults. Was the joy in this cruelty fuelled by Strindberg's unhappy marriage? Strong trio Nicholas Farrell, Geraldine James, Charles Dance

Thank you to the cast and author of #JuniperBlood at #Donmar for their time, for signing the rehearsal photos and for my photos with #SamTroughton #HattieMorahan #JonathanSlinger
A spell-binding production.

#TheGatheredLeaves at #ParkTheatre A dreaded family reunion, a despot father, sibling fights, old wounds reopened, spirits stifled by high expectations. #ChrisLarkin's Giles moved me deeply as the soothing voice in the verbal battles.

#GoodNightOscar the fine line between genius and madness is blurred for Oscar Levant. #SeanHayes is wonderfully vulnerable with manic energy. He misses the admired Gershwin, conjurs up his ghost, alluring #DaveBurnett. Both ingenius minds unite in an explosive concert.Photo Dave Burnett, Richard Katz

#AWintersTale at @the-rsc.bsky.social is no tale of black & white. Bertie Carvel and John Light point out that both "brothers" have their demons. A strong Paulina and a pure Perdita move events towards reconciliation. Magical bear fight. Mystic sound carpet by Rhianna Compton.

Saying goodbye to #Edinburgh, 31h later than booked, but I made good use of the extra time and sunshine.

My flight was cancelled, so I had more time for visiting places mentioned in the play MAKE IT HAPPEN by James Graham. After Calton Hill, here are the former RBS Building in St Andrews Square and the statues of Smith and Hume in Old Town. The play breathes Edinburgh through and through.

I struggled uphill, but what a splendid view over Edinburgh from Calton Hill.

The Museum of Magic and Witchcraft in Edinburgh shows spooky exhibits from all over the world. Where will I find a dried bat to fight off evil spirits from my home?

Enjoying the world premiere of Make It Happen by James Graham, a perfect portrayal. Goodwin's hubris is supported by our modern financial tools. It mirrors the arrogance of the golden boy traders who brought Herstatt Bank down in Germany and echoes the Lehman's urge for growth. They never learn.

Do you believe in love at first sight? I know these mystical water spirits want to take you down with them, but the Kelpies Duke and Baron are beautiful, majestic, mysterious. HelixPark Edinburgh

James Graham you had me at "Greek Furies". This horror is timeless. Hubris and thirst for power destroy livelihoods, shake the financial markets. No remorse, no accountability. Sandy Grierson is marvellous as Goodwin, Brian Cox adds welcome humour. Make It Happen, Edinburgh

The Museum Of Childhood shows many of the toys we had, Monopoly, watercolour box, Scrabble, the real Lego, construction kit, the dreaded Struwwelpeter. All comes back, I am 10 again. Edinburgh

Narrow passages, endless staircases, beautiful signs, the Closes and Courts leading from one main street to a parallel one. I met the Plague Doctor at Mary King's Close. Edinburgh

Snacks can be had fom the Mill building on the premises in a picnic basket to take to the feet of the Château de l'Islette. I can recommend the baguette with foie de canard aux champignons forestiers and the bag with mixed biscuits from an Azay baker.

The roses and the river Indre render the park exceptionally pictoresque. And there are seats on every corner to contemplate and relax. Drink the beauty with thine eyes. Château de l'Islette

The last one on this journey is Renaissance castle l'Islette, sparkling in the sunlight, inviting you to sit on 100 benches and chairs along the waterstreams.

A new exhibition in the château de Chinon shows Royal Treasures. I wouldn't mind a copy of the Royal Crown from 12th century or the ship-shaped drinking vessel of Cardinal de Lorraine.
