Working in Jersey 🇯🇪 where there are no barriers like Att8, at least 4 of the 12 (25%) secondary schools offer GCSE Ψ to their students. I can’t help but think that if GCSE Ψ was reclassified and therefore given equal weighting to Sciences & Computer Science in Att8 it would be offered more widely.

Thus reducing the popularity of GCSE Psychology as an option. So few schools offer GCSE Ψ that JCQ only shows ‘Social Sciences’ in their analysis of GCSE results, yet it is the second most popular subject choice at A level in the UK.

I wholeheartedly agree that GCSE Psychology should be classified as one of the Sciences rather than a Humanities subject. The discrepancy that it is classified as such at A Level but not GCSE means that it can be given lower value in Progress 8 & Attainment 8 calculations compared to other Sciences.
