I suspect he's just into coercion tbh. I mean - I can't imagine him wanting to give pleasure to anyone. So my guess is proximity too - chasing that halo effect.

I suspect it's figurative, though there was that rally where he mimed fellatio on the microphone.

And I don't think it's that Bubba. Some other dude apparently? (Wanders off to find post...)

You rock - thank you!

Yep. That''s just pathetic. Into the oubliette he went.

This has been their strategy since the 90s - ever since David Blunkett had the Home Office.

It's destroyed people's lives - and opened up space for the Tories et al to be even more vile - but it's never worked.

All it's done is ensure that many of the people who should be their base despise them.

His 'particular complications' is giving Blackadder vibes.

I don't doubt they stole a lot of data - but from what I read, the people doing the stealing were incompetent (i.e. remember Elon was going on about 'duplicate id's when they were probably foreign keys?). So I wouldn't expect precision so much as rank stupidity and malice. Which is bad enough.

Reason #100000001 to despise him (among the trivial ones)
I don't like snobbery, but he really brings out the snob in me.

Also probably going to lead to a bunch of 'I did [insert utterly horrible thing] because Jesus told me too'

Which we already have more than enough of.

Yep.

Insta-oubliette. Some people just really tell on themselves.

And you have a good neighbour :)

That was their promise. It's not one they kept.

And unfortunately some of their worst behaviours (deporting desperate people to third countries that they have no connection to) come from right here.

And bloody Albanese's deporting people to Nauru again...

Also, right now - moving if you can - may position you to provide shelter and help to people who may need it.

It also removes your labour from a regime that's hellbent on misusing it. There are lots of ways to resist and not all of them are from within U.S. borders.

When I lived in the U.S. I met many Americans who had *no* closeish family living in other countries . It was just outside their experience - and it really cut them off from other ways of doing things and other possibilities.

It kind of made them easier targts for - well - this...

It taught me something about how you can do a lot with a little (especially if you have amazing actors like James Marsters and Juliet Landau!) - but more than that for me, it's a chunk of why I decided to have a go at writing.
I wanted to do that :)

Season 1 was fun, but in that season vampires were basically quippy killing machines - viewer weren't emotionally invested in seeing them do anything but die..
But this scene put a bunch of cracks in that notion, which I think ultimately changed the whole show's trajector for the better.

... with three lines of dialogue 'Spike? I'm cold' / 'I've got you' / 'I'm a princess' and a borrowed coat - we learn that vampires can be in love, they can be afraid (and not just for themselves), anxious, vulnerable, relieved... and even caring
