This is a great question/observation. A large part of it, I'd guess, is our social perception of the color. But there's also the issue of color theory. More often than not, it's extremely difficult to fit pink in with many other colors. That is, unless the extreme contrast is the goal.

I've played quite a few different ttrpgs, and only a couple used d20s. A lot of them were either d6 or percentile rolls for success/failure.

Then there's cyberpunk red, where you can use a tarot card deck instead of dice.

Took this approach with my daughter. She's 8, and is excited about learning C++ so she can make video games. You really open up a whole new world for kids when you give them a PC. (Monitored, ofc)

The best time to start is right now! It's easier to learn than you might think, and if you've got some artistic skills you'll do great.
