Life’s a game. Sharing cheat codes from real stories to help you gain XP and unlock happiness.

🎮The Mission:
Spawned into life with no guide.
No tutorial. No map. Just bills.
And a feeling there’s got to be more than this.
The goal?
Level up your happiness.
This page shares real-world cheat codes from me + others to help you play the game your way and win.
🎮 Level 1: The Real Game Starts Here:

Bills, bosses, no tutorial.

Some people never pass it.

Here’s what I’ve learned playing, and watching others beat it.

🗺️ Change the Map:

Been stuck on the same map too long?

You know this place like the back of your hand, but it bores you.

New environments unlock new quests.

Travel. Move. Try new routines.

You can’t find new loot if you never leave the map.

👓 Change Your View:

The game didn’t change, but you did.

Sometimes all it takes is a shift in perspective.

See the challenge as XP.

Reframe the grind. "I get to do this".

Same game, new mindset = progress.

🧩 Play It a Different Way:

You don’t always need to switch games.

Sometimes you just need a new strategy.

Change characters. Use different tools.

Level up in a way that actually fits you.

Same game, better playstyle for you.

🔄 Switch Games:

You've beaten Ganon 100 times.

You know every side quest.

Maybe it’s time to swap Zelda for Call of Duty.

If the thrill is gone, it’s OK to try something new.

Some games aren't meant to be played forever.

The real win? Finding one that still excites you.

🧠 Level 1 mistake:

Spending hours naming your new project.

The name isn’t the mission.

Validate the game first. Does it matter, does it work, and do people care?

If yes, great. Name it later.

Naming’s more like Level 5.

Don’t get stuck at the character creation screen.

🕹️ Keep Playing the Right Game:

I chose recruiting as my main quest.

No XP at the start. Just cold calls and doubt.

I saw others crushing it and knew I wanted that level, too.

The more I played, the better I got.

Eventually, I mastered the game and got out of debt.

I had two final interviews for UK recruiting jobs:
1 healthcare, 1 IT.

Healthcare said no.
IT said yes.

The healthcare firm had no international ops.
The IT firm eventually moved me to the US.

That rejection?
One of the best things that ever happened to me.

Change Your Surroundings:

When I’ve felt stuck, it’s usually because life got too predictable.

A walk in nature, a short trip, or even working somewhere new helped reset my mindset.

Sometimes a new view is all it takes to feel unstuck.

I used to start work, check my phone, read the news, and suddenly the day was gone. Nothing done.

What helped me: Pomodoro.

Set a timer for 25–45 mins, focus on 1 task. When it rings, take a short break (No tech), then repeat.

This changed everything.

Getting up was a major drag, 15 alarms, snooze after snooze, still tired.

I thought I needed to “Become a morning person.”

I was wrong.

I needed something to wake up for.

Excitement is the best alarm clock.

Change How You See It:

When you're low on energy, don’t change the mission, change the lens.

Why are you playing? Who are you playing for?

“I get to do this” is a cheat code that keeps you moving when the game gets tough.

Change How You Play It:

You might be in the right game but stuck in the wrong role. Time to switch positions.

Change the Game:

Is your current game serving you?
Do you love playing it?

If the answer to both of these is no, sometimes it's better to find a new game to play that you can grow to love.

This most drastic step requires the most change, but it could be what you need.

Love the Game You Play:

You should be excited to complete the activities on your list each day. It should be fun for you; that's what it looks like to win the game.

You're doing it wrong if it starts to feel like work. If you feel that way, it's time to make a change.

I found a career I loved. It changed my life in so many ways.

Then one day… I didn’t love it anymore.

I tried to transition to something else for a long time. I felt like I didn’t know anything else, or how to make a living elsewhere.

I was stuck.

If you’re feeling stuck right now, try this question: Am I tired from the work, or am I tired from trying to force something that doesn’t fit?

Working 3 jobs, exhausted, still couldn’t catch up.

Then I found a different game with better players, rules, and outcomes.

I studied their moves, adapted fast, and passed them.
The right game changes everything.

What game are you playing?

Life used to feel like a grind. Then I started thinking of it as a game—with levels, strategy, and teammates. When I changed how I played, everything changed.

Love the game or change the rules.
