Password managers auto fill your login details for you. As the Phishing login page will have the wrong URL, the password manager won’t fill in your login details.

This will alert you to the scam.

Cyber criminals buy leaked login details for pennies, and your login credentials could be out there for all to see.

Have you checked recently if your usernames and passwords are part of a breach, and are for sale on the dark web?

Would you trust your business to a password that takes one second to crack?

Browser password managers are hackers’ low-hanging fruit.

I’ve personally stolen my own saved browser passwords in under 20 seconds using freely available hacking software.

Scary, right?

Why do so many small businesses get hit by ransomware?

It's because their antivirus software is stuck in the past, using old technology, unable to stop modern threats.

Nowadays, you need managed EDR anti virus software.

“Negate lunar ability” sounds random. That’s the point.

Then join them with a special character, and add in a few numerals and capital letters = A long and strong password

Negate44>luNar<8ability

Try it.

Fileless malware doesn’t leave a trace on your hard drive, it operates in your computer’s memory. This means old-school antivirus tools, which scan files for known virus file fingerprints, often miss fileless malware.

Most people still rely on passwords alone.
That’s like locking your front door, then leaving your key under the doormat.

Use 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) as your second lock.
It's like adding a combination padlock to your front door.

Traditional consumer antivirus software hasn’t evolved since the late 1980s.

It still relies on virus signatures—fingerprints of known viruses.

Cyber criminals have found ways to outsmart this.

If you are still on Windows 10, you need to take some steps to ensure you receive another twelve month’s worth of “Security Patches”.

If you don’t do this you will be at risk, as you won’t automatically get enrolled in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates programme.

Cyber criminals don’t target “big companies only”.

They target whoever is easiest. And if you’re an entrepreneur or sole trader without 2FA, you’re an easy target for them.

Most wouldn’t.

Your pet’s name and a date is not a good password.

"Fluffy2019" might be easy to remember, but it’s also very easy for the cyber criminals to crack.

Instead, use LSD passwords: Long, Strong, and Different.

Hackers don’t need to “crack your password.” They just buy leaked password lists for a few pounds, then try your breached credentials everywhere online.

If you reuse passwords, you’re at risk. Read my newsletter article on 2FA here ⬇️

How good is your anti virus protection?

This morning, I installed SentinelOne anti virus for a new client.

I removed McAfee and installed SentinelOne for them. Eleven minutes later SentinelOne picked up on something suspicious and killed / quarantined .....
