Do not feel ashamed to delegate tasks to other people. Have them run errands, clean the house, watch the baby while you sleep or shower, make meals for you, organize the nursery, etc. Whatever you need.

It can be disappointing if you realize that you don't have the support you thought you did, struggle to admit that need help or simply accept it, or that becoming a mother nothing like you imagined it would be.

This doesn't make you a terrible mother. It makes you human. All of these things can be happening & it is perfectly valid for you to experience. After childbirth, people rarely stop to think about how the mother is doing.

which takes a lot of metabolic energy, you're no longer the center of attention and on top of that maybe you don't feel connected to your baby. You love them but you have so many conflicting emotions happening at once that you just wish you could be alone.

There are so many new things occurring in your body at the same time as those external factors. Your body may be incredibly sore, your hormones are rebalancing & you could be moody, your breasts are beginning to produce milk

urinate or defecate, people may have high expectations for you to "snap back" or return to work, or maybe people have been obsessively calling, texting or stopping by without permission to get a glimpse of your newborn causing you to feel overwhelmed and like you must accommodate to your guests.

Everyone else may be immensely happy for you, yet somehow you may struggle not to feel the pressure to people please to show how grateful you are to have a healthy baby or you may secretly feel guilty for not sharing similar sentiments deep down.

Although, this is a dream which is also a very possible & tangible outcome for many pregnant women, it can still be shocking for them to realize that afterbirth they just feel... numb.
