Honestly this is just really cool. I wrote a book and now they're going to sell it in stores. This was my one little dream and now it's a thing. www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/634502...

It strikes me that if the court can allow parents to opt out of programming they don’t like, then all of the southern states trying to mandate the 10 Commandments in classrooms might be in trouble? They might have opened a huge can of worms for any parent who disagrees with religion in school?

When the same stall tactics my 4-year-old uses at bedtime start actually working:

ICYMI, in the flood of tariff news, the same people who claim they need to end the Department of Education to "return schools to the States" also want to insert themselves into how the States are running these schools.

@bhgreeley.bsky.social running MSNBC in the background (a little existential dread bedtime brainfood), realized I KNOW THAT VOICE!

Appreciate the overcooked steak reference in a financial debate. More people should work that in. It’s a true sign of a sociopath.

My kid’s school is doing a project where they ask for a family story from an elder. Texted my parents (and sister) the assignment. I feel like the response tells you a lot about our upbringing.

I’m trying to moderate my daily outrage but Trump baselessly blaming “DEI” for the plane crash….wtf.

Points to @cnn-news.bsky.social for the chyron.

I’m traveling with 10 friends on a birthday trip. And as the person who works in travel, I made a detailed, color-coded itinerary including “mandatory fun”.

Any PR person who’s made a FAM itinerary knows the level of crazy I bring to personal group travel.

Now seems like a good time to pop out of the country for a few days. (No, really, heading to MX for a minute)

I really hope Hillary and Kamala are sitting in front of a fire with like 6 bottles of really good wine, just getting trashed. Like the rest of us but with much better vintage.

Spent too much time today frantically prepping for the "arctic blast" coming in tonight. The really scary part? How many people I met at shops today who were like, "What are you talking about?".
IT MIGHT BE -25 HERE THIS WEEKEND.

I absolutely have concerns about how much data China is pulling from TikTok; but increasingly it seems like Meta’s hard shift right while having access to every digital part of American life is…way scarier? Like actual imminent threat?

Went home (Midwest) for Xmas and my mom casually mentions finding a dead baby raccoon trapped in a garbage can earlier in the week. In front of my 4 year old.
We now casually discuss death at least six time a day, & act out funerals at bedtime. Not sure how long this phase lasts but it’s…something

I listened to NYT’s The Daily today, interviewing a young Syrian man who survived one of the prisons and was released last week. It’s haunting; hearing the reporters voice narrate is going to stick with me for a while.

Throwing this out after 3 glasses of wine at a holiday party: settle the debate, when has a book been better, or at least even, with the book? (Someone here just saw Wicked, I’m a book fan but the musical misses nuance imo. I’m losing the argument.)

And, not to be an alarmist, but it seems unlikely that a wide-spread downsizing of government spending will leave #BrandUSA unscathed. Or even intact at all.

One under-reported topic coming out of the election: the impact on international #tourism to the US. I suspect some countries will issue #travel warnings for LQBTQ, POC and Hispanic travelers thinking of coming here (also already hearing rumblings from editor friends abroad about Ed Cal changes).
