...because I can only do so much, and I want to still enjoy doing this, so maybe a day off every once in a while is a good thing. Even if it is my current Special Interest.

Maybe I should just go to bed.

Yeah, that's probably for the best. Goodnight, Bluesky. #thirdshiftlife

...it's too complicated, so idk. I admit I'm just rambling at this point, but how else does one wait for feedback on a piece of creative work?

Good thing I have corn chips I can stress eat. (And weed to smoke, tbh)

I think I'm going to give myself permission to turn my brain off for today... 7/?

...in that I've always just kind of followed my whims, but this is nerve-wracking. I'm just glad that the game is at such an early point that reworking it (probably) won't be that much work. I mean, I feel like there's far more than enough to differentiate from other games, and I don't think... 6/?

...early, I think. Get used to it early so that when you unveil your grand creation, you won't be so deflated if it gets received poorly. That's conventional wisdom, yeah?

See, this is also the most effort I've put into something probably ever. I've always tended to be a leaf on the stream... 5/?

...game. That doesn’t make it any less scary, though. You'd think it would, but I doubt any amount of time waiting would suffice. That's not how it works. You gotta rip off the band-aid. (Is that still a saying? Have they finally fixed that adhesive issue?) And it's better to do it... 4/?

But I'm drifting.

I've been chomping at the bit for this moment: the first real feedback on the viability of this... 3/?

Oh, I can imagine! Adventure is Nigh! is my comfort show. I watch it while eating dinner and unwinding from work.

I'm (eventually) going to pick up RDI just so I can play as Grinderbin. Their antics are a delight to see whenever you're on screen.

Congratulations! It looks incredible!

I don't know who you are, but this randomly popped up on my feed, and since I love celebrating victories, I had to say something. Congratulations, my friend. It's not easy, but this random internet stranger is proud of your accomplishment.

My favorite mapmaking experience was years and years ago. To date it, I was running a 4e D&D campaign. I was bored one night, and after having several drinks, I decided to map the entire major city the players were in on those huge 1" grid paper sheets.

I wound up using three whole flip charts.

I absolutely love that part of worldbuilding. It's all about what makes the city feel alive. Where is the mayor's favorite food cart? Which alley always has the good junk being thrown away? I actually have to set a timer when I do this, otherwise my whole day will be gone. 😵‍💫

...this first set is received, and then maybe continue if it's something wanted. But honestly? If this project goes no further than me getting the prototype decks in my hands, I'll consider it a massive win. We shall see! Hope springs eternal and all that. 7/7

built within the environment instead of on top of it.

There are other countries, of course, with other color schemes, but I think it's best to not do too much all at once, and designing cards for all the countries in the world feels like a bit much, even for me. In time, maybe. We'll see how... 6/?

...eventual art direction to take. I want Iadeccan cards to be brightly colored as their national colors are red and gold. Also, they're a desert country, so it's nice and bright in the desert. I guess this is how Ancient Rome manifests for me, but there you go.

And I love thinking about how the mechanics influence the lore and vice versa. For example, the basic soldier cards from one kingdom, Suthomor, have a higher base Def than Atk, and therefore in lore they have massive shields, whereas Iadecca, the other country on offer, uses the TIE fighter... 2/?

I love House of Leaves so much! It's my favorite novel.

I can v much relate to this. I lost several deep friendships as a child due to my mother's incessant insistence that I was bothering them or taking up too much of their time. She was like that with everyone re: me.

As you can imagine it's given me an enormous complex about how much space I take up.

Imo, it's really a much bigger conversation regarding the nature of consciousness, but then again, I've also been accused of being pretentious, so salt to season, lmao.
