Regardless of which platform you use, the best way to support artists will always be to buy tickets, merch and albums if you can. Not everyone can afford this, but if that is an option for you, then this is the way to show love to the artist (especially up and coming ones).

With all this said, the main thing I found is that there are loads of options out there. Just because Spotify has been great in the past, does not mean you should completely overlook their bad practices to enjoy your fave artists.

Deezer was my original attempt, but it had so many bugs and errors that I couldn't happily pay the same price as Spotify for the privilege of using it. Also with it's ownership, it feels like a miss (though if you are used to Spotify, it might be the easiest to switch to)

Qobuz is a great alternative if you know what you like, but it still has some ways to go especially while it is priced higher than nearly all other services. If they can smooth out the experience and bring more features that I like, it would be an easy recommendation

Apple Music came close but it felt clunky on Android and feels again like I am giving to a massive company that will do it's best at some point to cut corners and monopolise streaming.

My personal favourite (and what I may stick to next year) is Tidal. Although it has it's own short comings in terms of ownership, it has the most parity with Spotify (music videos and rewind a big plus) and actually made me more intentional with my listening. It comes at a very competitive price too
