Yes, i couldnt agree more! I luckily found an easy fix for it

Make a copy of a soft airbrush. This will become your smudge brush. Go into the brush settings - Properties - set smudge pull to none. Then go to Wet Mix and set blur to max

Its not perfect but it works alot better than the default one!
