Guinea's military government led by colonel Mamady Doumbouya has canceled over 50 mining permits for gold, bauxite, diamonds, and graphite.

The government also ordered permits to be withdrawn from companies that do not comply with the country's mining code.

Niger is set to build its first gold refinery and gemstone processing plants.

The government has signed a joint venture with Suvarna Royal Gold Trading, a UAE based company.

The new agreement will build a gold refinery, jewelry manufacturing unit, and a gemstone cutting and polishing center.

It is the largest mining project in Africa.

The Simandou mining site contains the world’s largest untapped iron ore deposit with 2.8 billion tonnes of iron ore.

Meta has until June to settle the fines.

A British Army officer has been arrested by Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly smuggling weapons into the country.

The arms, including 50 AK-47 rifles, six pump-action shotguns, and over 3,000 rounds of ammunition, were recovered during a covert operation in Delta State.
