Practical strategies for focus, productivity & self-care | Helping ADHDers thrive, one tip at a time | Let’s study smarter, not harder!
ADHD note-taking in lectures: chaotic but effective.

- Mind maps → linear notes are a trap.

- Doodles & symbols → brain remembers visuals better.

- Keywords only → No full sentences.

ADHD isn’t about bad memory, it’s about bad retrieval—so make notes in a way your brain WANTS to find them later!

If I don’t stand staring at my tea while it brews, I end up drinking cold and bitter tea. Do you think there would be a market for a machine that times how long your tea bag has been brewing, lifts it out of the mug when it’s ready, and plays a little tune to let you know your tea is done? #ADHD

Hello! Sorry for not responding for three months. ADHD got the best of me. I forgot, and then I felt too ashamed to reply.

The Pomodoro technique is great for ADHD students. It breaks tasks into manageable timeframes, making studying feel less overwhelming. Since studying is challenging for me, I usually focus for 15 minutes and then take a 10-minute break.

When I get really excited about a topic and could research it endlessly, I usually don’t end up actually reading any of it.

ADHD brains thrive on visual cues, so try using clear bins or open shelves for items you want to keep. If you can see it, you’re less likely to forget it’s there! Keeping things visible makes it easier to stay organized and remember where everything is.

Setting small cleaning goals and rewarding yourself for each milestone can make a big difference when trying to declutter with ADHD!

Body doubling—having someone nearby as you work—can make decluttering easier and more enjoyable. Their presence keeps you focused, reduces distractions, and adds a sense of accountability.

When decluttering, make quick decisions (easy to do with ADHD!). Avoid overthinking each item. Ask yourself, "Do I use it regularly? Is it important?" If not, it’s easier to let it go.

I’m in an online lecture, and the presenter isn’t using PP or any visual aids. So I’m just hanging around on X and (not) listening to the lecture. If you’re giving a presentation, please use visual aids. They give us something to focus on, and I might actually take in some of the information.

Anxiety-fueled efforts to change don’t bring lasting results because we're too overwhelmed to commit to long-term change. Often we focus on specific short-term goals when we want to improve, but we'd achieve much better results by considering how these changes would benefit our lives in the long run

There's nothing wrong with being a 'below average' child—not everyone needs to be academically gifted. You just need to find what makes you feel good and important. Your job doesn’t have to be your purpose; it can simply support you in pursuing what truly gives your life meaning.

I don’t want to be normal or neurotypical. I want to discover my unique strengths and weaknesses and learn to work with them to improve my life to the fullest.

I believe in positivity. Life and its challenges are easier to handle when you look for the silver lining. But I don’t believe in toxic positivity. Sometimes life sucks, and there’s no point pretending it doesn’t. It’s okay to accept that you feel terrible. It shall pass.
