I wouldn't wanna invade illyria either, ask Octavian/Augustus and Agrippa about it.
August 4, 2025 at 1:28 AM
This is frustrating because the area they are going after was not even captured by HTS but instead by the Southern Operations Room
December 8, 2024 at 5:22 PM
that don't really care anything but killing the Kurdish SDF
December 8, 2024 at 5:43 AM
I mean ig there's a small chance the CIA backed HTS but that's incredibly counter to the US strategic goals for the region. The US supports the aforementioned Al Tanf fsa rebels and the Kurdish SDF forces

For Turkey they other group they fund is the SNA which is a bunch of former isis fighters
December 8, 2024 at 5:43 AM
Yeah but Turkey not the US, (the US had like 500 guys run around the desert and make sure ISIS didn't take the historic city of palmyra)
December 8, 2024 at 5:25 AM
yeah no seems like we generally agree here
December 8, 2024 at 4:42 AM
ur so good its crazy complex
December 8, 2024 at 4:28 AM
isis doesn't even control territory, the black part of the map is just where they are liable to pop out and kill people
December 8, 2024 at 4:20 AM
I think they have shown that they are not patently evil like ISIS and Al Qaeda for now, but I hesitate to give them too much credit. Idlib is still repressive and they've seen the taliban's marketing playbook and ratcheted it up considerably. There's a lot of factors but I'd be extremely hesitant.
December 8, 2024 at 4:13 AM
here's a question. has the sdf liberated any prisons lmao? I think of the two groups u mentioned only the Southern Operations Room/Daraa rebels have liberated any prisons in the past week lmao
December 8, 2024 at 3:59 AM
i think people are just confused because HTS is the largest rebel faction and has been has been part of al qaeda and isis. if you think the SDF is part of that ur really lost in the sauce. But we still don't know much about the Southern Operations Room and they are at least coordinating with HTS
December 8, 2024 at 3:51 AM
hm, you don't seem to be of sound mind i shouldn't trouble you further. I genuinely hope u have a good rest of your day, sending u good vibes
December 8, 2024 at 3:43 AM
i'm soccdem but ig that's probably close enough to lib for you, but uhhhh what's not gonna happen? the US supporting the SDF? the major force for gender equality in the region? it's been goin on for years
December 8, 2024 at 3:39 AM
yeah, it must be really annoying to you that the libs just happen to support the major faction for gender equality in the region because they want a puppet state
December 8, 2024 at 3:37 AM
I guess that's better than them being an HTS pawn. That means the region will have a much greater shot at gender equality.
December 8, 2024 at 3:07 AM
god I hope that's not true. I mean we literally have the kurds right there as our main ally why not just help them. or even expand the help to al tanf fsa guys
December 8, 2024 at 2:07 AM
if someone doesn't know that turkey is a major player here they are lost in the sauce
December 8, 2024 at 1:29 AM
does anyone know if the southern control room is aligned with HTS seems doubtful if it's made up of druze.
December 8, 2024 at 1:20 AM
I think the SNA is only really fighting the kurds in Manbijj right now, the US backed Al Tanf FSA are in damascus's east side, the southern operations room which has ties to HTS it seems is in the south of Damascus, Seems like HTS proper is still driving down from Homs and aren't there yet
December 8, 2024 at 1:14 AM
I hope we're wrong, and that HTS has intentions of truly respecting the many diverse people in syria...
December 8, 2024 at 1:08 AM
HTS? yeah but this is like exactly the Taliban playbook from like super recently, play nice until ur in charge. I'm not ruling out that they do the right thing and set up autonomous regions though, hope that can happen
December 8, 2024 at 1:03 AM
I think the HTS PR campaign is just that... a campaign. However, the US backed al tanf FSA rebels and the Southern Operations Room (which we know like nothing about except maybe there's a lot of druze as part of their numbers) might get Damascus first
