This morning’s hike was incredible! 125 hikers, 5 dogs, & amazing energy despite the cold.

We gathered at the fire road entrance, introduced our leads, and set off as a team. Everyone stuck together, supported each other, and made it to the summit.

I’m amazed by the dedication you all show, even in freezing weather. These hikes will continue indefinitely—rain will be our only pause. For now, we’re here every week, three times a week, same route, same great community. Even if it’s just two people—or no one—I’ll still be here.

Even with the cold, we kept a steady pace, and everyone brought incredible vibes. Seven hikers turned back at the midpoint, and three headed out after summiting to make it to work. To our new hikers: welcome! To our regulars: thank you for showing up and making this feel like a family.

This morning, I arrived at Griffith Park at 5:10 AM to find 55 hikers and 2 dogs ready to take on the freezing cold. It was dark, it was cold, but the energy was perfect. Shoutout to today’s leads—Kevin (front), Idalia and Jesus (middle), and me as the sweeper.

Look back at where you started and see how far you’ve come. You’re no longer in the parking lot—you’re at the top of the mountain. You are The 5am Crew, and I celebrate you. Keep going. We start together & we end together, I’ve got you.

It hasn’t always been easy. I’ve shown up tired, sick, sad, and stretched thin. But it’s worth it every single time. Because this isn’t just a hike; it’s a celebration of what’s possible when we show up for ourselves and each other.

I’ve witnessed incredible transformations through this community: people breaking out of their shells, forming friendships, starting run clubs, hiking groups, and even finding joy in the simple act of showing up. It’s not about me—it’s about the ripple we’ve all created together.

There are mornings I don’t feel like getting up, but I show up anyway. And every time, by the end of the hike, I’m so grateful I did. I see the smiles, the empowerment, the connections people are making—not just with others, but with themselves.

This hasn’t always come naturally to me. When I started The 5am Crew, I wasn’t always prepared or on time. But as time went on, I realized the ripple effect of consistency.

One thing that keeps standing out is the power of showing up and staying true to my word. Integrity, as I’ve come to understand it, is about following through—even when no one’s watching.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what we’ve built together as a team and how far this journey has taken us. Every time we finish a hike, I sit in my car and think about what I’ve learned and experienced.
