A view you'll not forget easily. The road up probably is the most expensive toll road in all of Norway. Or close. Highway robbery would be an adequate definition.

The outrageously expensive. winding road up to Dalsnibba does not immediately reveal what is awaiting you at the top. As you arrive, the UNESCO protected Geirangerfjord opens up below. It truly is a sight to behold. From this vantage point the hustle and bustle of a busy Geiranger, especially in the tourist season, cannot be heard or felt.

Back to Norway. Here are some pictures from one remarkable road anyone who likes to ride off-pavement should try. At least once in a lifetime. The name of the road is Aursjøvegen. You find it in More & Romsdal. Pics will speak for themselves #norway #nature #photos #valleys #mountains #gravel
One entry to Aursjøvegen is from Sunndalsøra. It's a toll road. but worth every single NOK. Since there are cameras in both ends, to maximize value you can always make a turn on the other side before the camera, and head back up into the mountains :) The road up towards the mountains. Down on the other side, Eikesdalen in the rear As you descend on the Eikesdalen side, this is what you see. The image does not do this experience justice in any respect. The altitude difference is totally different live.

Riding in the Italian Dolomites means countless curves, and beauty to behold in literally every possible angle. Two days has been sufficient time to do, well most of the passes and roads.

The idea to ride Strada dell'Assietta wasn't planned. It just happened. Coming towards Sestriere, I saw a sign and went up the mountain side.

Strada dell' Assietta and Colle dell'Assietta is a project everyone who comes to the Alps, and ride offroad or gravel and dirt, should try. At least once. The road is not open to motorcycle riders all week. Make sure to check in advance. And avoid riding there in the middle of the day Down towards Sportinia, a ski resort on the southwestern side. Assietta is around 34 kilometers worth of gravel, dirt, sand and rocks. With some inclines and sharp bends. View from Colle delle Finestre. Not half bad this road either! The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S where I think it both belongs, and fits. Even if more of a tourer it's very capable offroad (if you know how to handle it).

While I French Alps I met a group of veteran riders. Who were out on a really long journey (with a following car).

French Alps is a favourite. Less touristy, more rugged, more.. natural than elsewhere. And plenty of surprises. A few years ago I rode most of the Grand Alpine route, from south to north. 7800 kilometers worth of adventure that autumn. Fabulous. #motorcycle #adventure #france #alps #photo #travel
On the way down after Col de la Bonnette. Magnificent views, mountains and, not the least, the roads! One of many non-planned surprises. While looking for a place to stay for the night, I ended up in a side valley and one of the highest altitude settlements in all of the Alps, Saint Vèran. Worth a visit! At the pass Colle dell'Agnello or Col d'Agnel and the border between France and Italy.

For me a motorcycle is an adventure tool. There are some criteria and requirements. Other than that it can be whatever.

Germany: riding from the Mosel valley on small roads, all of a sudden I saw a road under a canopy leading into dense woods. Turned out to be a network of them. Wales: this paved road started behind a barn. And carried on through woods and over mountains :) Harz Mountains, Germany. Again one of those "behind a barn finds". Turned out to lead into a vast network of gravel & dirt roads.

Along Lysevegen, or Fv500, towards Kjerag and Lysebotn, Norway. The weather was great. But as it happens in these parts of Norway, it changes fast. View from the ferry that runs in Lysefjorden, from Lysebotn to Songesand. From where you can take road Fv661. Which also is quite a ride. Stegastein vantage point is a wooden platform that juts out 30 meters from the mountain. Well worth a visit, and so is a drive across Aurlandsfjellet (Aurland mountain). The old mountain road runs from Lærdal to Aurland. Down below you also see the little town Aurlandsvangen.
