The system that we all rely on to prove our immigration status in the UK...is down right now.

There is no alternative, no physical back-up, so no way of showing your employer, your landlord, or anyone else that you have the right to live here.

The new absence rules for pre-settled status holders have come in: people are eligible for settled status if they have been resident in the UK for 30 months out of the last 60 months. Use our absence calculator to figure out how many absences you've had:

✊ Fantastic to bring together dozens of community members from every corner of the UK to take part in a Mass Lobby to Fix Digital-Only Status!

We believe the UK is an island of welcoming communities. As migrants, we are family, friends and neighbours.

We all agree the immigration system is broken, but immigration changes announced today will only sow more division and erode people’s rights.

The Home Office: "eVisas are secure and cannot be tampered with"

🚨 Right now: people are seeing details of passports and biometric residence cards that are not their own, linked to their account.

If this is not tampering, then what is?

Around half of workers in the UK don't have a high enough wage to be able to sponsor their loved one to join them in the UK. No one should be priced out of love.

Many of you have reported receiving an email about #eVisas from the Home Office which is very confusing.

People granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme should already have a UKVI account and be able to see their digital status - which is now referred to as an eVisa.

Home Office logic: Don't have internet access? Or a device? Not confident in your digital skills?

Thank you to @neweuropeansuk.bsky.social, @mp4stratford.bsky.social, Baroness Lister, Lord Rannard, Lord Hannay and Lord Balfe for a great meeting in Parliament! We discussed emerging issues for EU citizens in the UK and look forward to working together to protect citizens’ rights.

While the Home Office doubled down and continued to insist on its mantra that their digital status “cannot be lost, stolen or tampered with”, we saw people with indefinite leave to remain one day finding their eVisa showing their leave had expired. This status has definitely been tampered with.

Having physical proof of our immigration status is important: not only to EU citizens, but 40% of all respondents shared the strength of feeling.
November 27, 2024 at 10:37 AM
While only 6% of white respondents with status under the EU Settlement Scheme encountered an issue with their digital status, 17% of people of colour faced a problem.
