More sketching last night, and Megatron helped.
A couple more reiterations of sketches from my college sketchbooks, complete with the duplication of notes. On the right, a student is seated while drawing on a sizeable board held on her knees. On the left, a figure is bent over looking at the viewer, with lines straight and curved surrou di g her and thr text "feeling Un- Inspired" to the side of her. Is this the student's drawing, perhaps? Lady Megatron places herself where she pleases, and in this case that was on my sketchbook. Here she is mid-yawn, showing off her recently cleaned teeth.

Have I mentioned that I'm enjoying this oxblood ink? Because I like it.
Another couple pages in the cheapo sketchbook filed with oxblood ink. On the left, a feminine figure whose chest is exposed - deeply exposed, down to the bone. On the right, a skeletal back featuring spine, ribs, scapula, clavicles, and a humerus - all rendered in linework with hatching and crosshatching. Text featured has as much meaning as life - only whay we give it. In this case, I have given no meaning to the text (unlike my life).

And now for the other side of the coin for the two things I post: cat photos. Specifically, Lady Megatron reminding me of her nickname of "Begatron".
Lady Megatron the calico cat exposes her belly in a pitiful plea that I might share my grocery store sushi with her. I did not, because she has food allergies and also that would only make the begging worse.

The book purchased from a large soulless and evil corporation with Jesus overtones and is closed on Sunday - probably so that they can use that day to steal artifacts.... I have sinned. I was vaguely inspired by some Bad AI Slop I saw on reddit - this is the skeletal beast. The flayed man is a self portrait, I think. Text and symbols are nearly always pure decoration, meant to look meaningful. On the left, we have a page inspired by a page of the Necronomicon Ex Mortis of the Evil Dead series, but using the Blade of the Unrequited and aspects of the fighting dinosaurs (Velociraptor Mongoliensis and Protoceratops). On the right side, inspiration comes from an old illustrated manuscript sort of art (bottom), a drawing done by a frequent customer when ai worked at a book store (art supplies for testing, the guy was in at least once a week, always left a drawing), and also Bones.

Friday afternoon, my beautiful baby boy of nearly 18 years crossed the rainbow bridge.
Since then, Lady Megatron has spent roughly 90% of all available time literally on me.
In this photo, she was two minutes deep into holding my hand with her teeth, which she likes doing.l

Sure feels like a Saturday morning, even if it is a Tuesday afternoon.
The brown tabby Soldier Tom and the calico Lady Megatron both decided to settle in my lap, putting my coffee out of reach (immediately adjacent to the blue drinking container on the coffee table).

Spent about an hour yesterday trapped under sleeping kittens.
Spent about an hour this morning trapped under Lady Megatron, who was not sleeping. Megatron left, and Soldier took her spot.

Misjudged the size of this sword, it's a wee bit smaller than I intended it to be.
Space marine for relative scale (40mm base) and not related to the purpose of the sword.

This morning started with an inconvenient setback or two, and now Megatron takes advantage of my late breakfast.
The beautiful calico cat who is Lady Megatron Avery Sparta, Third of Her Name, Princess of the Cats, and Chief Cuteness of House Picou (a.k.a. "Princess") rests in the photographer's lap, purring as gently as she can. Due to some unknown cause, she has never been able to meow or purr like a normal cat, and so her purring sounds are somewhat rough. The photographer sits cross-legged, providing Megatron with her favorite lounging space.

Sometimes I take a picture and then I go to share it and then I realize that I cannot share a photo because there's a particular plush in the frame and BOOM, no photo.

Red beans and rice was cooked this evening.
Very happy with the results.

Also made desert.
A pot of red beans simmers on the stovetop. 1 pound of red beans, 1 onion, 3 stalks of celery, 1 bell pepper2 cloves of garlic, 2 tablespoons of Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, 1 tablespoon of thyme, some chili powder (unmeasured, I just kind poured some in letting the spirits of my ancestors guide my hands), 3 jalapeños, 1 12oz(?) pack of andouille sausage 6 cups of water. Chop veggies and sausage, brown sausage in a pan, then start cooking the veggies in same pan, medium heat. Beans and water in separate pot, bring to boil. Once veggies are softened, add seasoning, cook until beans have boiled for 15 minutes, then pour intonpot with beans and simmer until beans have a satisfying smush sensation. Smush some of the beans in pot while cooking. Let simmer on whatever temperature (low?) Until sufficiently thick. Serve with rice. Enjoy. Or else. Peanut butter honey squares. Peanut butter, honey, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and either powdered milk or non-dairy creamer, all in the proper proportions, which is a very looseely guarded secret (the recipe lives on my desk at home, and not in my head). Not pictured: I later coated the balls with dark chocolate.

Was about to post a thing I'm working on, but then decided against it *for no particular reason*, so instead I now share the "Moltres" I drew today, because I also like #Pokemon
(Now with the photo actually attached....)
The artist has drawn a Red Chicken that is also on fire, and called it a "Moltres", the third of the Legendary Bird Pokemon from the original Pokemon games.

Also, continuing to make progress on translating skills from traditional media to digital, so here's a study of the skull that sits on my desk.
It's not a real skull, but it is cast from a real skull.
The second photo is of the skulls currently adorning my work area.
A digital painting of a human skull in 3/4 view. The canvas was set to burnt sienna, the darker areas are painted in with a burnt sienna shade with the intent set towards van dyke brown, and the lighter areas are painted in with naples yellow, in some spots being that yellow with a bit of white mixed in. This is an approximation of the artists' traditional underpainting style, though that generally incorporates unbleached titanium as the white. Six skulls are arranged on the corner of a desk. To the left are three human skulls of varying sizes - a life-size skull cast from a real human skull sits with its mouth open - this has been painted to approximate real bone. In the life-sized skull's mouth sits a roughly plum-sized skull printed in grey plastic, its mouth open. In the life-sized skull's right eye sits an eye-sized skull that is painted gold - it's mouth is closed. On the right side sits a velociraptor skull, resin printed at half sized and then painted a very dirty bone color. Behind that sits an 8-10" long Tyrannosaurus Rex skull, a Jurassic World decoration that has its own stand. On that stand sits a very small Cubone skull, 3D printed in plastic and then painted into a color that is as accurate to the source material as possible.

Worked from home yesterday. Shortly before the work day ended, I got up from my seat to go do something or other.
Came back to find a couple full loaf of cat.
Lady Megatron and Soldier Tom, wasting no time moving to absorb my butt heat from the chair, as gumbo weather has begun to set in.

On this day, we Celebrate Lady Megatron's 9th birthday. These two children of mine are enjoying this slow Sunday morning.
