7. St Brandan's Cloister was built by the sisters and brothers of the Abbey in the 13th century, the height of the period which Librarians regard as the 'Solar Gothic' Period. The open air garden's flowers bloom blue crowns through winter and spring, with sea hollies the other seasons.

6. The final floor of the Long Tower has been generally considered the coldest room in Hush House. For this reason, the Long Tower was usually called the Winter Tower until the magus and reputed Obliviate Julian Cosely stayed in this room in the 17th century.

5. In the 13th century, the Hush House was still St Brandan's Abbey. It underwent substantial expansion in the 13th century following a generous donation from a "Lady Eva de Braose." The tower that neighbours the Watchman's Tower, called the Long Tower or the Winter Tower, is part of that expansion.

4. While the Watchman's Tower itself dates back to the 11th century, this floor, the observatory, was not be built until 1567, under commission of Thomas Dewulf, the second Baron Brancrug.

3. Above the Gatehouse, the first floor of the Watchman's Tower was favored as a study by the first and last Baroness Brancrug, Eva Dewulf. It has existed for as long as the Tower itself has, but was largely unused until it became favored by Eva Dewulf, the first and last Baroness Brancrug.

2. Past the front doors, the first room one enters is the Gatehouse of the Watchman's Tower. In the 11th century, Brian of Brittany built this Tower to protect St Brandan's Abbey, the name of Hush House at the time. Later, it was strengthened by the Barons Dewulf to protect them from their enemies.

To reach Hush House, one must first cross the Cucurbit Bridge, at Brancrug Village.

The first room one encounters is not a room, but the Keeper's Lodge just outside; the keeper's task is to watch the ways, weed the gardens, and mend the roof. There is no keeper now, but the Lodge remains.
